1Kings 18:21 NIV
Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.”

If I had the power to go back into time to experience a few things, then certainly I wouldn’t miss the showdown between Elijah and the prophets of Baal.

As dramatic as it was, so much was at stake. The contest had some other undertones, like:
who controlled the weather, God or Baal?
I believe some knew the outcome even before the contest began, and yet they saw it through to the end.

Israel, like many of us, was living a checkered life. They served God out of convenience… today they were with him and another day, Baal. So Elijah asks them, and by extension you and I, “how long will you waver between the two?”

How long will you continue in your double standards?
How long will you remain undecided?
What else would you want to see, so you make the choice?
May His grace lead us arise from our slumber and our double standards.
