Jeremiah 17:12 KJV
A glorious high throne from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary.

I have always held on to a certain belief, that in man’s attempt to find God, who had already found us, he broke up the church into denominations, as it were, to fit his understanding of the divine God.

But God cannot fully be comprehended, in my opinion. In our attempt to know God better we questioned one another and doubted ourselves and the way we went about it. We now have so many denominations in church than can be counted.

Jeremiah’s words in 17:12 made such an impact on me while I meditated on the verse. Our goal is heaven and indeed that is where the glorious high throne has been right from the beginning. I don’t wish to say that being divided hasn’t done us much good, but to a certain extent it has.

I pray to see a generation that is not prejudiced by ‘barriers’ of religious denominations, a generation ready to serve the living God together irrespective of religious affiliations, one whose focus is that high throne that has been there since the beginning of time.

Have a blessed Friday.

CUT THEM OFF – Thu, Feb 25, 2016

Jeremiah 16:1-2 KJV
The word of the Lord came also unto me, saying,

[2] Thou shalt not take thee a wife, neither shalt thou have sons or daughters in this place.

A work colleague told me once that she visited a town in one Region sometime ago and she had an experience of her life she’d never forget.

She was making a thoroughfare through a house with some guys, when an oldman in the house stopped her and asked her to return. She wouldn’t listen because all the guys she was with had by then gone through. Then the oldman explained to her that those who were ‘bleeding’ couldn’t pass through.

Familiar spirits had already informed him of the lady’s condition. Many more diviners and seers defiled the land in the days of Jeremiah, so God would not have him or his seed unequally yoked with them. Psalm 1:1-4 says this in a different way.

You just cannot go on with certain people or have relations with them, especially when you get to know who they are or where you are. Staying away doesn’t make you anti-social, it rather wins you favour from the Lord.

Have a blessed day.

A DIFFERENT PEOPLE – Wed, Feb 24, 2016

Jeremiah 15:1 KJV
Then said the Lord unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth.

Isn’t it interesting that God who is all merciful could says these things even in the presence of great intercessors like Moses and Samuel?

For God to ignore these two, then He must really really be mad at the people for their wrong doings.
It is very important to set yourself apart if you find yourself in a certain community of people who do not glorify God in their actions

Even though there may be a curse on such people, your situation may be different. God will not count you as part of the sinful lot. See what He says to a unique group still within that lot in verse 11: “verily it shall be well with your remnant… I will cause the enemy to treat you well in time of evil…”

We don’t get to decide where we’re born, or who our family is, so we may be in line for certain mishaps or God’s wrath… But we can surely make a difference. We can turn the tides to favour us, and smile in the face of afflictions.

Have a blessed day.

SIN’S TESTIMONY – Tue, Feb 23, 2015

Jeremiah 14:7 KJV
O Lord , though our iniquities testify against us, do thou it for thy name’s sake: for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against thee.

In a time when a number of orthodox churches are undergoing a period of fasting, prayers and alms-giving, in preparation towards Easter, it is not out of place to take a few pointers from Jeremiah, on sin

In this verse Jeremiah gave the sins you and I commit human attributes. Just like a man would stand in court to accuse or defend another, our iniquities stand before the LORD.

We live in a time where we easily overlook the petty sins we commit. I dare to say that until most of us step into church to pray, we never really atone for our sins with the blood. In this wise, it stands to reason that ‘No sin can be trivialised or can be just be wished away.’

They have the tendency to stand before the LORD to accuse us and bear a true testimony against us. This calls for the need to plead for His blood on DAILY basis. Have you done that today?

Have a blessed day.

ABOUNDING GRACE – Fri, Feb 19, 2016

Jeremiah 10:23-24 KJV
O Lord , I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.

[24] O Lord , correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.

Sometimes I think our generation is so lucky not to witness at first hand, some of the things that happened to Jews we read about in the bible.

I can imagine sitting somewhere without any crime committed then picked up all of a sudden to be stoned because my father sinned gravely. Or even see the earth open and swallow my entire family because of one member’s sin.

People like Jeremiah could identify with scenarios like these because they were firsthand witnesses of some of these, and that is why they could make statements like “correct me but not in your anger, lest i be reduced to nothing.”

Grace abounds in our time, but He doesn’t expect to see you and I taking advantage of that situation to mess up big time. Yes, He will forgive, but only the contrite heart.

Have a blessed Friday

BOASTING IN HIM- Thu, Feb 18, 2016

Jeremiah 9:23-24 KJV
Thus saith the Lord , Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:

[24] But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord .

I have a friend who used the audio version of these verses for a ringtone. Anytime his phone rang, the words always hit me.

Reading it today reminds me again of what we read just a few days back in Jeremiah 5:4-5. Our definition of true riches must be tweaked a little, no matter what it is, given these words from Jeremiah.

There’s nothing absolutely wrong with physical wealth accumulation, or subjecting oneself to higher learning, or developing physical strengthen through rigorous exercises, but all these NEED to be seen as gifts from God to His subjects.

You are actually what and who you are because He allowed it. You can and will see even better progress if you choose to desist from glorying in your Progress and rather glory in your understanding and knowledge of Him.

Have a blessed day.

TIMES & SEASONS – Wed, Feb 17, 2016

Jeremiah 8:7 KJV
Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the Lord .

I remember some years back in a Biology Class in Senior High School we learnt about Migratory Birds.

I remember my teacher telling us about an intrinsic device that enables them to tell the times and seasons. They carry no watches or calendars and yet are able to tell the times.

Man is more intelligent than these species…much more the saved man. That is why we sadden God when we fail to utilize the opportunities He brings our way.

There’s no need to still brood over lost opportunities. A better approach is to be motivated by the lost ones and take a good shot at the next.
We need to prove we are better off than storks,  cranes, turtles and swallows. Let’s observe the times.

Have a blessed day.
