Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Some hardships, though self imposed, may be very necessary for ones own development. Some can call them training, others discipline and so on and so forth.

Whatever the terminology or nomenclature, it is important to establish the fact that good things usually do not come cheap, in most spheres of life. So it is worrying when some feel Christianity doesn’t fall within this group.

Here, we have the Apostles exhorting people to persevere in the faith with these words; “it is important / necessary for us to undergo many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God.” This is not a call to live a life of self-imposition of torture but for one to embrace the discomforts that accompany following Jesus.

So, it’s not prudent to be praying away the hardships that characterize our walk with Him. Neither is it wise to always think the hand of the devil (or witches) is responsible, and spend all our time rebuking him. Let’s work it out, grind slowly, so we get there in joy.
