ADULTERY – Fri, Oct 18, 2019

Ezekiel 6:9 KJV

And they that escape of you shall remember me among the nations whither they shall be carried captives, because I am broken with their whorish heart, which hath departed from me, and with their eyes, which go a whoring after their idols: and they shall lothe themselves for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations.

On a radio programme I was listening to yesterday while driving home, a woman complained to the host about how her husband’s desire for her had diminished.

According to her, childbirth had changed her looks and so didn’t feel she had that appeal anymore, which was making her husband look elsewhere.
Adultery in marriages is an age old problem, a thing I doubt will ever end. Whichever way you look at it, the other partner is usually left broken, especially when they have both come very far.

Israel dealt a lot with God on this level. Prophet Ezekiel would describe God’s heart as broken at this point, because of their adulterous lives. This kind of adultery was with other deities and not man. Other powers, forces, objects, etc that took their worship of God away from Him and rested it in the bosom of that which couldn’t even save themselves.

God hasn’t changed. His delight is for you to return His love for you in worship of Him. Don’t hand your love over to a phone, a TV show, money, food, fashion, or a group/society at His expense. That is whorish, that is adulterous.
Let’s make the effort to love Him with all of our hearts.

Have a blessed Friday. #TGIF

HELL, EMPTY THREAT? – Thu, Oct 17, 2019

Ezekiel 6:7,10 KJV

And the slain shall fall in the midst of you, and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

[10] And they shall know that I am the Lord, and that I have not said in vain that I would do this evil unto them.

I’ve heard many schools of thoughts that seem to suggest that a loving God like ours, would never hurt the very people He made.

Such folks erroneously substantiate their claims with the first coming of Jesus. “He came into the world to save it, not to condemn it.”

This was the position of most of the Israelites before captivity in Babylon. The prophet Ezekiel, on the other hand would speak God’s mind on the matter to them: “…and you will know that the Lord has not said in vain that He will do this evil…”

Though God is love, He is a fair judge too and will recompense unto each one of us our due. Living outside His Will has one end eventually, so is living in His Will. His Will is for you and I to be saved. Be reminded daily that hell is real! Your love for the Father is enough to keep you from eternal damnation.

Have a blessed day.

Ezekiel 5:7-8 KJV

Therefore thus saith the Lord God ; Because ye multiplied more than the nations that are round about you, and have not walked in my statutes, neither have kept my judgments;

[8] Therefore thus saith the Lord God ; Behold, I, even I, am against thee, and will execute judgments in the midst of thee in the sight of the nations.

Recently, I read a post on social media, which comments were supposedly made by Sadio Mane, the in-form Liverpool FC Forward. Though I had seen the post before, I took time to read it again.

Essentially, he didn’t want to be consumed by all his wealth. He always remembered where he came from and would rather channel his resources into worthwhile projects that will transform the lives of his people back home.

Prophet Ezekiel, the drama minister that he was, portrayed the reality to his people. Their successes, compared to the neighbouring nations, had made them completely forget who they were or where they had come from. They had forgotten their God and His ordinances because “they had multiplied.”

Success can be delusional sometimes. I pray that as you “multiply” you still remember who you are, how you got there and what is more, who got you there.
I pray for more successful people among us, succesful people who have and maintain a memory!

Have a blessed day.

DRAMA’S ROLE – Tue, Oct 15, 2019

Ezekiel 4:4,6 KJV

Lie thou also upon thy left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it: according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon it thou shalt bear their iniquity.

[6] And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.

When I was a first year student in the university, I witnessed a sketch by the Drama Ministry. While I sat and watched, I wondered what place drama had at a programme such as a Spiritual Retreat. In my narrow mind, drama was merely for entertainment, as often was.

But after that short sketch and a couple more in the course of the semester, I came to learn and understand how valuable such modes of delivery proved to be, in administering God’s word… a necessary tool!

Prophet Ezekiel probably saw more drama than any other prophet. He play dehumanizing roles, just to get God’s message through. From cooking with faeces to lying on one side of his body without moving for over a year, just to paint the picture as vividly as possible. Ezekiel went great lengths, nothing close to the luxuries Christians of today enjoy.

What excuse are you still holding on to? To what extent can you overlook self and put in some sacrifice for His Word to reach others?
How much of yourself are you giving? What tools are you using to get the message through? Man, thou art inexcusable!
I pray for the grace to do!

Have a blessed day.

Lamentations 5:2,4 KJV

Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens.

[4] We have drunken our water for money; our wood is sold unto us.

Some Ghanaians feel Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkwrumah shouldn’t have driven away the whites completely. They feel some form of power sharing and a mutual co-existence would have made our country like South Africa by now. Majority of these same people feel the state is a failed one now, since all the ideals of Nkrumah are nowhere near sight.

Nkrumah wanted Ghana to hoard all the cocoa produced in Africa and perhaps control the sale of this cash crop and its derivatives. Unfortunately today, the cocoa is sold back to us at a premium price.

Perhaps, this is what the Prophet Jeremiah felt, a failed state, a time when Israel’s wood was sold back to her, when her inheritance was now ceded to strangers/aliens. Things that should have come to them naturally now came at a price.

Spiritually, this is what happens to us when we dabble in sin. We cede our inheritance and promises to the enemy, the devil. We lose the power to decree and speak over situations. We become a failed people, and begin to beg for what is originally ours. I pray that you and I get delivered from sin and break free from its hold. We are victorious!

Have a blessed day. #TGIF

DIM GOLD? – Thu, Oct 10, 2019

Lamentations 4:1-2 KJV

How is the gold become dim! how is the most fine gold changed! the stones of the sanctuary are poured out in the top of every street.

[2] The precious sons of Zion, comparable to fine gold, how are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter!

In high school, I remember one of our colleagues so well for his notoriety. He was almost a legend of our time for the wrong reasons. His name was a constant for the disciplinary committee and I’m sure they got tired of seeing him. Everyone knew he wasn’t going to turn out well… at least it wouldn’t have surprised anyone.

Today, he walks about a fine preacher of the Gospel, doing ‘exploits’ some could never dream have dreamed of. Everyone is happy when things turn out this way.
The reverse situation is also true, we are taken aback when the crème de la crème of our time end up wayward. This was the perception of Prophet Jeremiah (of his people) as he wrote this Lamentation.

“How has the gold become dim… The precious sons of Zion, how are they esteemed as earthen pitchers?”
Only Christ and His Gospel is able to sustain our lustre, in the grand scheme of things.

Our time here on earth is limited, so may not be the most appropriate judge of how we end up eventually. But in all, at the final curtain call, will we maintain our lustre? My prayer is that you and I would not be found wanting. Be the gold that you are!

Have a blessed day.

REMNANT MENTALITY – Wed, Oct 09, 2019

Lamentations 3:31-32 KJV

For the Lord will not cast off for ever:

[32] But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.

Many times I have read that the Jews were destroyed by a people (whether the Persians, Chaldeans or Babylonians) and were all taken captive. Yet you always see a line like this: “those who were left behind, did this and that.”

Somehow, no matter the level of annihilation, whether total or partial, a remnant is always left behind. Why was this the case? The prophet Jeremiah introduces us to a character of God… His Divine Mercy!

God is never angry with us forever, He always offers hope no matter how much chastisement we receive from Him, as a result of our own actions. Even if our sins cause Him to look away, He still hangs around the corner to hope for your turning point.

His anger is for a moment but His mercies are everlasting. Don’t make anyone fool you not to return to Him. He’s probably been expecting it till now. Make the move, it wasn’t for no reason He always left the remnant.

Have a blessed day.
