TRUTH IN UNRIGHTEOUSNESS – Wed, Nov 30, 2016

Romans 1:18 KJV
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

What does it mean to hold the truth in unrighteousness? Pondering on this for a while, I realised the bible had answered this question in the subsequent verses

God is particularly not happy with Christians who still wallow in unrighteousness. This is because God has revealed Himself to them so He expects them to manifest Himself in their lives.

In the process, such people fail to glorify God. Their actions negate that of the will of God in their lives and eventually, they are no longer thankful.

In fact, their end is nothing good to speak of. (See v26-32) We may see this as far from us, but the enemy can easily lure us into such a state should we let our guards down. Hold the truth in righteousness and keep up the faith, fanning into flames the gifts you’ve received.
Have a blessed day.

JUST ON TIME – Tue, Nov 22, 2016

Acts 21:31-32 KJV

And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.
[32] Who immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down unto them: and when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, they left beating of Paul.

I was driving home in a very tiny car one night, all the way from the Aflao border, to Ashongman Estates. It was late (around 11pm) and I was very tired. By the time I got to Ashongman, I was dozing off slowly behind the steer.

Sleep driving is such a dangerous endeavour. I was heading for a parked caterpillar by the side of the road when I woke up instantly, then veered off into the road again. Luckily, no car was approaching on either sides. If my eyelids has stayed close for an extra one second, I’d have been gone by now.

Paul knew what fate would befall him in Jerusalem, yet he went in there. But just when he was about to be lynched, roman soldiers appeared from nowhere and saved him. An extra minute of delay would have found him dead.

God protects his own and until He says “time up” no one can really wipe you out. I need you to remain His, so He can keep you from all dangers. I testify to this because it is true. Remain His so He can do more for you.
Have a blessed day.

TIMES OF IGNORANCE, GONE – Fri, Nov 18, 2016

Acts 17:29-30 KJV

Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.
[30] And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
In Athens, Paul came across a good number of Jews who, as it were, had lost track of their religious roots. These Athenians worshipped a god they had inadequate information about. A lot of what they did bore resemblance to the original, yet the identity was lost.
One statement of Paul that moved me, in his proposal to the people is, “And the times of Ignorance, God overlooked/winked at, but now…”

The days are far gone when man could make excuses for not repenting or knowing Him. Now is the dispensation of Mercy and Grace.
Thankfully, Paul was around at the nick of time to save the situation. He taught and guided those who wanted to know, the God they had been serving all along.
We are inexcusable. We’ll all face the Judgement Seat where mercy and grace may no longer abound. Let’s take advantage while we still have time.
Have a blessed Friday.

DISCERNMENT OPPORTUNITY – Thu, Nov 17, 2016

Acts 16:6-7 KJV

Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,
[7] After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.

A gentleman went to a school to collect money from his master’s debtors. After taking monies from 5 people he had to wait a while to meet the 6th person. When she finally showed up, she was in all black apparel and looked very sad.

Our gentleman decided to deviate from the original plan. With much concern he ministered to this woman who had only become a widow the night before. For the next few weeks he’d check on her and provide emotional relief.

Years later, this lady, now an evangelist, confessed that she gave her life to God because that gentleman yielded to the prompting of the Holy Spirit and decided to deviate from an original plan. Many more souls have been won because he yielded.

Discerning the promptings of the Holy Spirit is one of the most important arts a Christian must develop. There’s time for everything… even a time NOT to preach the Word.  How would you know what time it is if you miss the opportunity to discern?
Have a blessed day.

CONTENTIONS IN THE BODY OF CHRIST- Wed, Nov 16, 2016

Acts 15:39-40 KJV

And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;
[40] And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.
Once the body of Christ is made up of himan beings, we can never be guaranteed of a trouble-free / problem-free Church. This is very normal!
The early church in Antioch also had its fair share of troubles, disagreements and rifts between brothers and sisters. First we are told of the mix up between the Jewish Christians and the Gentile Christians (v5 – 21), then that between two bigshots, Paul and Barnabas (v39 – 41)
But one thing is for sure, these contentions later turned out for good, because it exposed the people to knowledge through research and secondly, expanded God’s kingdom; more gentiles got engrafted into the Kingdom
The church is not made up of angels, but when we allow ourselves, God is able to turn our differences into something good for the benefit of His Kingdom.
Have a blessed day.

SPIRITUAL BULLDOZERS – Tue, Nov 15, 2016

Acts 14:19-20 KJV

And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.
[20] Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.
It is no easy task stopping a heavy duty machine/vehicle that is in full motion, unless is comes to a halt on its own. Even though it may be moving at a slow pace, its momentum makes it difficult to deal with.
Some Jews who had pursued Paul the apostle from Antioch, found him in Lystra, another gentile town, stoned him and dragged his body out of the town. But the next day, our apostle was in town again preaching to the same who stoned him to death.
Paul had a mission to accomplish. And just like Christ Himself, Paul would not be stopped until what he had to do had been accomplished.
Like these two, we are also heavy-duty equipment that cannot be easily stopped while in motion. You carry a mandate that must be fulfilled, and I pray it is fulfilled before you finally depart from here.
Have a blessed day.

NO RESPECTER- Fri, Nov 11, 2016

Acts 10:34-35 KJV

Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
[35] But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
I met a young gentleman in the university who had come in through an initiative of the Vice Chancellor of the time. An initiative that admitted brilliant but needy students from very deprived communities.
He also came to know the Lord on campus, coming from a Muslim background. He never had things easy.
About two years ago I attended a Healing and Deliverance Programme in a church in my neighbourhood, only to see my friend officiating the service
Through him, God healed and delivered many right before my eyes. Indeed God is no respecter of persons. Once that soul in question is willing, God is more than available to make use of him.
Your religious, social or economic background can never limit the extent to which the Father can use you, should you be willing. Shun the excuses, Cornelius’ household received the gifts of the Holy Spirit even before they got baptised.
Have a blessed Friday.
