ALL WILL KNOW HIM – Fri, Jun 28, 2019

Isaiah 19:21,24-25 KJV

And the Lord shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the Lord in that day, and shall do sacrifice and oblation; yea, they shall vow a vow unto the Lord, and perform it.

[24] In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land:

[25] Whom the Lord of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance.

Never did I ever expect to come across a prophesy like this, and it came from no mean a prophet than Isaiah himself.

Watching the Discovery Channel just a few days ago, I learnt about Akhenaten and how he introduced the worship of one god in Egypt. By then Egypt had over 2,000 gods, and just like Moses, he was resisted in many ways. Even after his death, his tomb was desecrated by the locals.

Egypt, Babylon, Persia and Assyria were among the very powerful lifetime enemies of Israel, so for Isaiah to declare such a prophesy brings a lot thoughts to ponder on.

There’s definitely going to come a time when all the peoples will know is the Lord, the Lord of Host. But not without a turmoil, not without a fight, not without gloom and pain. These would precede the Light. All will eventually come to this knowledge. Bless the Lord for this privilege to know Him even now.

Have a blessed day. #TGIF

RUNNING AROUND IN CIRCLES – Thu, Jun 27, 2019

Isaiah 18:7 KJV

In that time shall the present be brought unto the Lord of hosts of a people scattered and peeled, and from a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and trodden under foot, whose land the rivers have spoiled, to the place of the name of the Lord of hosts, the mount Zion.

Where does help usually come from when you need it most? Though most people would easily say, “it comes from the Lord,” just a few truly believe this and attribute their resulting successes to the Lord.

In the Prophet Isaiah’s time, Israel, like some other nations around them do, sent ambassadors to stronger nations for help, but this didn’t go down well with the Lord. So this is what the Lord promised to do: To sit quietly and observe all that was happening… Yet He knew what would happen in the end.

The same nations that all the people run to for help (including Israel), will come to Him the Lord of Hosts to pay tribute, to bring a present.
Wow, how about that move? What a way to let the world know where true power resides!

You may not be chasing some other power for help, but know for a certainty that whoever or whatever you are courting, with intentions of bailing you out in the near future also has a master, and that master is the Lord of Hosts. Take your issues to Him instead, than the running around in circles, you may be wasting your own time.

Have a blessed day.

ALL WE HAVE, HE GAVE – Wed, Jun 19, 2019

Isaiah 10:5-6 KJV

O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.

[6] I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

Back in Sunday School we were taught that God chastises those He loves, though I don’t really remember learning about the how.

What happens to those agents or tools who God uses to chastise His own, when they become arrogant?
Assyria was such a typical nation, God used as a tool/agent to punish His beloved nation, Israel. But as chances would have it, Assyria themselves became arrogant and began to blaspheme againt the name of the LORD.

It’s one thing being successful, and it’s another thing knowing and acknowledging that which got you there. I’ve seen a few people bite the hands that fed them. In most of these cases, it never ended well.

All the resources you’ve received have come from somewhere. You may be tempted to think you got there by your hardwork, but surely, a few inputs came from here and there. That somebody somewhere pulled a certain string or two to set your course in place. So there is reason for you to he grateful and help others as much as you can. Don’t get beside yourself, you don’t want Him fighting you.

Have a blessed day.

WE NEED THE LIGHT – Tue, Jun 18, 2019

Isaiah 9:2 KJV

The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.

One of my prayer points each day is for my friends who walk in darkness to come into the light. Most often I present specific names to the Lord, even though I’m yet to meet physically meet some of them. Social media has allowed us to know ourselves even before a physical meeting.

But not just these people. I also pray that even those of us who have seen the light, remain in it!
Indeed, the light delivered us from the darkness, in the land of the shadow of death, our eminent end, where no hope was. It is the yoke of this burden that Isaiah says the light has broken.

Isaiah compares this deliverance from darkness to the victory Gideon won at Midian (verse 4). It was unexpected and sudden, yet brought liberation to all.

I pray that this very light will be real to you. That Light that dispels the darkness of sin, unbelief and hard-heartedness, find you now and liberate you from any form of bondage.

Have a blessed day.

WHAT MORE CAN HE DO? – Fri, Jun 14, 2019

Isaiah 5:4-5 KJV

What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?

[5] And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down:

What do you do when you give your lover multiple chances to prove his/her love for you but keeps failing or disappointing? What do you do?

In one of the episodes of “Cheaters” that I watched, a young lady repeated that question many times to her unfaithful boyfriend when he was caught on tape. “What do you want me to do again?”
For the one caught in the act, it seems a very hard question to hear.

The Lord was in such a ‘dilemma’ when Israel (His love) kept going back to serve other gods, as Isaiah would report it. A very disheartening situation, when you just don’t know what to do anymore. But alas… the Lord has a solution. He knows just what to do: He will take away the hedge of protection!

For anyone who appreciates spiritual things, this is a very serious statement to make, with unimaginable implications.
You need His protection, keep serving and loving Him so you remain in His protection. Remember, the eyes of the Lord are upon those who fear Him.

Have a blessed day. #TGIF

PRIDE AND YOU – Tue, Jun 11, 2019

Isaiah 2:11-12 KJV

The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.

[12] For the day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:

I was in a queue, approaching the check-in counter when the man right in front of me picked up a fight with the lady at the counter. I honestly don’t know what happened but all I heard was the man shout, “do you know who I am?”

Another man in another queue just took the fight upon himself and shouted back, “who are you?”. At this point I also joined in and whispered from behind though audible enough for him to hear, “yes, who are you?”.

Very often the natural posture of man is to resent the proud. I believe this innate predisposition of man originates from such qualities the father himself possesses. Isaiah pointed to this in today’s text, where he preached of the eminent end of the proud.

Pride and all forms of self-magnification have no place in His kingdom. Remember, God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). Stay humble!!!

Have a blessed day.

THE ONLY ONE – Fri, Jun 07, 2019

Song of Solomon 6:8-9 KJV

There are threescore queens, and fourscore concubines, and virgins without number.

[9] My dove, my undefiled is but one; she is the only one of her mother, she is the choice one of her that bare her. The daughters saw her, and blessed her; yea, the queens and the concubines, and they praised her.

Just pay attention to the words of any man wooing his beloved, you are sure to come across a statement like this: “You are the only one.”

Even for those who obviously have many women, this line still does the trick for them, and it’s difficult to understand how or why the ladies are unable to read inbetween the lines and know they aren’t the only ones.

King Solomon employs this fascinating imagery in this verse (v8 and 9), as his character genuinely identifies one maiden out of the multitude of queens and concubines and chooses to love her beyond measure. Interestingly enough, God does same with us.

Though He loves us all, He treats each love as if it was the only one, as it were, one carefully selected from a myriad of options. For me, this knowledge is refreshing and gladdens my heart. This love is real and beautiful, open yourselves to it and embrace it.

Have a blessed day. #TGIF
