WHO’S YOUR SUCCESSOR? – Wed, Feb 28, 2018

Joshua 24:31 KJV

And Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that overlived Joshua, and which had known all the works of the Lord , that he had done for Israel.

When J.A Kuffour was president of Ghana, He had two key people in two very crucial positions; the Attorney General and Minister of Defence. The latter was his trusted brother.

Throughout scripture, key military generals have made or unmade kings. David had his fair share of issues with his army commander, Joab. While most of these right-hand men have or almost torn kingdoms apart, same could not be said of Joshua. Moses did not only have his trust, but the God factor also rubbed off unto Joshua.

So scripture can have it that “in as long as Joshua lived, Israel served the Lord.”
A successful man is one who is able to leave behind another to carry out his vision. Because of Joshua, Moses was a success. Because of Solomon David was a success.

Because of Elisha, Elijah was a success. What is your succession plan? Who can carry out your business/ministry ideals and take you to the next level, though you may not be there by then. Think succession, it’s not too early to.

Have a blessed day.

WHO FIGHTS FOR YOU? – Tue, Feb 27, 2018

Joshua 23:10-11 KJV

One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the Lord your God, he it is that fighteth for you, as he hath promised you.

[11] Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that ye love the Lord your God.

An old adage goes like this: The last kick of a dying horse is deadly, and its wound inflicting on its assailant.

In what was Joshua’s last words to his people, He chose to express himself using an analogy of a warrior. Of course, being a warrior his whole life, his best lessons came from the battlefield. The old man had come to acknowledge one thing, which he would gladly pass on to the younger generations: GOD FIGHTS FOR YOU (v10)

How did he come to such a conclusion? I’m sure in every single battle he could reckon there were many several moments he should have been wasted. Perhaps in battle-mode he even wielded his sword in ways Jet Li or Steven Seagal never did, which surprised he himself. So he knew clearly, what He meant by that statement.

I pray God would consider the love you have for Him enough, to provoke Him to fight your spiritual battles.

Have a blessed day.

LEADERSHIP SIMPLIFIED – Fri, Feb 23, 2018

Joshua 19:49 KJV

When they had made an end of dividing the land for inheritance by their coasts, the children of Israel gave an inheritance to Joshua the son of Nun among them

In which culture is the leader of a people the last person to receive a portion of goodies at their disposal?

Or which culture allows the people to decide what the king/military general should receive as opposed to he himself grabbing what he wants?

Just like the West, we in these parts of the world have also had our fair share of leaders who came and expected to be worshipped… painting a bad image of who a leader should be.
Christ redefined leadership in a unique way and taught what leaders ought to be.

Joshua actually lived it. He led in battles and yet became like a weakling when it came to grabbing possessions.
I pray for the spirit of some of these great men, an unusual spirit of leadership, so that the seeds we sow will reap a bountiful harvest of love for onlookers.

Have a blessed day.

FACE YOUR FEARS – Wed, Feb 21, 2018

Joshua 17:16 KJV

And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Beth-shean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel.

While in the promised land, a lot of things went on that were not part of the original plan. Before Moses passed on, he sternly stressed the need for the Jews to live alone; with no other foreign tribes.

Most of the non-Jewish tribes did very heinous things. They offered child sacrifices to their gods and worshipped God’s like Baal, that delighted in butchery and sadism. So the cry against them by many perished souls was very loud in God’s ears.

This is why God would not want any of such practitioners in the midst of Israel. Yet, tribes like Ephraim and Manasseh would allow their weakness to get the better of them, make excuses and allow such Canaanites to live with them.

Your weaknesses, when not checked, could be your own recipe for your disaster. Many of us have lived with some weaknesses for far too long and are so are reluctant to make the compromise to fight them off. In such a situation, you are only sitting on a time-bomb. You know for sure it will explode. Be a man, face your fears. You are empowered for such.

Have a blessed day.

NOT AUTOMATIC – Tue, Feb 20, 2018

Joshua 16:4,10 KJV

So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.

[10] And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute.

Caleb was one of the spies who were sent by Moses to spy out the promised land some 45yrs before they actually got into the land.
Indeed, he fought giants to take over the land that God promised him.

So the promise of God came true to him, but not without two key challenges:
1. Time; He waited for 45yrs for a single promise.
2. He fought for the Promise

It is not always automatic that once God has promised you something, it will come to you on a silver plata. You’ve got to fight to claim it because perhaps, others may also want it. So if you believe God revealed something to you personally in a dream, or even through someone, please know there is yet a lot of work to do, on your part.

How long have you waited? How much have you fought? How far can you hold on to that believe? Remember, the vision is for an appointed time…

Have a blessed day.

DESIGNED FOR WARFARE – Thu, Feb 15, 2018

Joshua 11:18-19 KJV

Joshua made war a long time with all those kings.

[19] There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle.

Is warfare good?

Sometimes I ask myself many questions when I read about the conquests of the great heroes mentioned in scripture. Typical of this stock was Joshua and David, who fought and won many battles and wars.

Why didn’t most of their enemies settle for peace, seeing the accomplishments of these warriors? We are told God hardened their hearts so He can prove His might. (v19)

The wars we fight today are different in nature but same in essence.

Our battles and wars are spiritual and even more sophisticated. So that you need to be a Joshua and fight these battles on a daily basis. You ignore them at your detriment because they surely manifest in the physical.
Gear up and be ready at all times.

Have a blessed day.

PARTNERSHIPS – Wed, Feb 14, 2018

Joshua 10:6 KJV

And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.

I remember late in the year 2012 when a merger was being considered between Kenya Airways and Ethiopian Airlines, we knew some big names in Europe especially wouldn’t want that.

Some airlines are no more today simply because they refused to merge. I hate using our own Ghana Airways as an example. A merger would have increased our offerings and made us a more competitive Carrier at the global level.

The men of Gibeon in today’s text had formed a good alliance with Israel, not because they loved them, but because they recognized the Power of Israel’s God. So when hell broke lose on them, they called on Israel. What happened after that was history.

You usually will not have all the answers. You won’t be able to do everything that you desire, but with some partnerships, with some mergers, with some coalition or association, you just may be able to.
Think twice and act right.

Have a blessed Vals.
