EFFECT OF HIS PRESENCE – Fri, Mar 31, 2017

Revelation 1:17-18 KJV

And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
[18] I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

We begin the book of Revelation with John’s encounter with Jesus, the Son of Man, one more time, but in a different place and in different conditions.

John had walked, talked and spent a lot of time with Jesus while He was on earth, and never was it said that he behaved this way. This time, the feeling is different: John fell prostrate before Him. I’d like us to meditate on this as we compare John’s reaction to Ezekiel’s each time he made contact with the Son of Man.

So overwhelming is the experience that one cannot but lie prostrate before the Son of Man when one comes in contact with Him. A pastor once said, at that point your own frailties as a man are are exposed and you come to terms with your ‘nothingness’ and ‘worthlessness.’

You are made aware of how insignificant you are before the King of Kings, yet He chose to come to you. That alone makes you unable to stand on your feet. You just lie prostrate and worship.

May you and I have this experience someday as we strive to be where He is.
Have a blessed Friday.
