DO NOT CURSE THEM

Romans 12:14 ESV
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.

One of the things my priest touched on last Sunday, had to do with praying for those who dislike us. Right there in my seat, I asked myself how far I had come, so far as that commandment is concerned. 😄

Interestingly, the priest looked at it from another angle. He mentioned that if we keep on cursing them, they only become worse off, and vent their frustrations back at us… a vicious cycle… which is why it is rather imperative for us to love back, to break the cycle.

So then love becomes our get-out-of-jail card. Aside breaking a vicious cycle of wickedness, it also a BIG sign of lowliness of heart, a heart that is prepared to ā€œcondescend to men of low estateā€ (Rom 12:16).

This is what Mary, mother of Jesus, realized God had done (Luke 1:48) in His choice of her.
The more we LOVE in HUMILITY, the more we catch His attention for exaltation (Luke 1:52).
Not easy, yes, but let’s keep loving and praying for those we don’t like.

Have a blessed day. #CarllyDevotionals
