MARVELLOUS THINGS – Thu, Feb 28, 2019

Psalm 98:1 KJV

O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.

Anytime I get the opportunity to listen to testimonies from people who believe God has intervened in their lives, I often get stories towing a particular line.

People are thankful to God for the big happenings! One got delivered from a fatal accident, another finally got a contract approved, yet another got a visa without the usual hustle.

Indeed, these are good things that merit thanksgiving, and rightly so, the praise belongs to God as Psalm 98:1 declares. But “marvellous” things here does not only refer to the big happenings in our lives. They also refer to the very things that may look trivial yet sacrosanct to our existence.

Waking up from sleep in my opinion is marvellous!
Free air to breathe without nasal/lung complications is marvellous!
Having all mental faculties and 5 senses intact is marvellous!
What do you consider marvellous? Sing Him a new song for such.

Have a blessed day.

CHARMS – Wed, Feb 27, 2019

Psalm 97:7,9 KJV

Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods.

[9] For thou, Lord , art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods.

I watched a man talk about a life he lived in the past. He claimed he was a very powerful man who couldn’t be subdued by any other. Physically he could beat the hell out anybody he had a little confrontation with.

Aside this, he loved to perform stunts with cars and motorbikes because he knew very well he could walk out of a mangled vehicle without even a scratch. He was really fortified, yet he always had to wear his protection around his waist.

He’d never attempt to go out a day without his protection. Those were his days of living in the dark.
Being on the other side now, he acknowledges that he no longer feels the urge to be violent and see the blood of other people. He will bleed now if you cut him with a knife, yet he feels more superior and powerful than before.

Charms, amulets and other small powers are only short-lived. Indeed, walking around in them makes you feel powerful… but empty within. True power knows its source: Blood of Jesus. Yield to the highest bidder, not to what will fail you tomorrow or the next.

Have a blessed day.

LESSER POWERS – Tue, Feb 26, 2019

Psalm 96:4-5 KJV

For the Lord is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods.

[5] For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the Lord made the heavens.

Recently, I watched an episode of Good Evening Ghana where the host, Paul Adom-Otchere, interviewed one gentleman who could actually do some spiritual “hacking.”

I’m sure you are a bit surprised about the choice of the term, hacking. Well, so was I. These spiritual hackers are able to predict a few things accurately, though limited, and are able to see beyond the usual eye and intervene in some situations within their power. One thing was striking though…

This spiritual hacker confessed that there were some things that were left to God alone. Even he or anyone else higher could do nothing about… not his master nor their masters. Those things were purely within the remits of the Divine Master, YAHWEH, and shall remain so!

It’s folly to deny the existence of spiritual powers. In fact, principalities, dominions, powers and many more are very real, much more real than the physical. Yet we know that they all kowtow to our God. This is why it is important to remain in Him, so you don’t become khebab for these hungry entities 😊.

Have a blessed day.

WAXING OLD IN THE LORD – Fri, Feb 22, 2019

Psalm 92:13-14 KJV

Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.

[14] They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;

An old woman called Auntie Mary lived in my neighbourhood when I was young. We went to the same church and often met there too for the morning devotions.

Everything about her was very slow. In fact, in my eyes she lived a life of slow-motion because she even spoke slowly. But that was not the most striking thing about Auntie Mary. Her faith was a big challenge to me.

Even when I stayed an hour or two after devotion to do my own devotion, Auntie Mary did more. No matter how much time I spent in God’s presence, Auntie Mary just did more! Her devotion at the age was just phenomenal. Her body frame and weakness would not even deter her, she’d stand, kneel, walk and assume any other posture you could think of.

She defines what is means to flourish in old age to me. Not her wealth alone but outstanding faith to do this for well over 35yrs. I pray for more Auntie Marys in us all so we don’t lose our faith, nor make excuses in our old age. May our faith never fail, in Jesus name.

Have a blessed day. #TGIF

PROOF OF DWELLING – Thu, Feb 21, 2019

Psalm 91:1-2 KJV

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

[2] I will say of the Lord , He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

I have specific ‘food joints’ that I make efforts not to miss once I find myself in the neighbourhood: A waakye joint in Adenta, around the market at Housing Down and Fufu joint in Osu, popularly called Asabea.

Truth is that I don’t just enjoy the meals at these places but I’ve been somewhat of a silent ambassador. I’ve personally sent a good number of people to these places in some of my visits.
In Psalm 91, Moses expounds on the benefits of abiding in the Lord, a very popular Psalm.

Unfortunately, many of us who have come to known the Lord and do enjoy all the benefits Moses lists in this Psalm are unable to bring others to the party. We are able to point out places of interest to our friends, but unable to point them to the ‘secret place of the most High.’

One proof that you love something is how much you talk about it, make reference to it and invite others to. So if indeed, He is your refuge and fortress, prove it your deeds by bringing others to this realization. Don’t just show them the waakye joints and soccer pubs, bring them to Jesus too.

Have a blessed day.

A BETTER INSURANCE – Tue, Feb 19, 2019

Psalm 89:47-48 KJV

Remember how short my time is: wherefore hast thou made all men in vain?

[48] What man is he that liveth, and shall not see death? shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah.

I know one priest who’d often say if you don’t want to die don’t get born.

Yesterday, while I was returning home, my ride partner told me a story of a very young boy who fell in a well and died. Apparently, this boy was about to be adopted by her father, as the brother she never had.

As we re-counted probably what were the last few minutes of the boy drowning, I could literally feel his pain… I’ve been near that situation.
Most people have had terrible similar experiences or may have witnessed death firsthand. We witness how fickle life can be.

Jesus offers a very cool insurance against this erratic tendencies of life. You don’t need to lose out twice when once is enough. Choosing Him means whatever life presents, we are still guaranteed a better place. Applications are still open, make the move now.

Have a blessed day.

ALL ARE COVERED – Fri, Feb 15, 2019

Psalm 85:2 KJV

Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.

I have been following a series of messages on a particular radio station all of last week. The preacher’s main theme was FAITH. He made some very important revelations that bears some connection with our verse for today that I’d like us to consider.

Most of the people God used before our time were not very clean people: You can begin from Noah, to Abraham, to Moses to Rahab to David, etc. Yet all these find their names in Faith’s hall of fame. Perhaps you are more righteous in your deeds than some of these.

One of the key things your faith in God does is to cover ALL your sins. No wonder some of the names above still popped up. Their faith put them in a different level altogether. You couldn’t judge them anymore by their past evils. All were covered!

Don’t make the mistake of thinking you are better off without God, probably because you have seen those who call themselves Christians fall/sin a number of times. This is a deception of the devil to keep you away from God. Faith operates illogically. Seek God and forsake all others.

Have a blessed day. #TGIF
