Acts 5:27-28 KJV
Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.
Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
One of the places we dreaded most when we were students in High School, was facing the Disciplinary Committee, popularly called DC. A good number of boys didn’t flout school rules not because they didn’t want to, but just so they would not have anything to do with DC.
I could say more than 70% of the population of each year group, never made a single trip to the DC throughout their stay on campus. Yet, you could count a number of students who managed multiple trips to the DC before graduating 😃.
Apostle Peter and his friends also faced the DC of their time. They had blatantly defied their leaders not because they didn’t respect them, but simply because they just won’t disobey a higher command of proclaiming Jesus to the world.
Disobeying man-made rules has its consequences, but may not transcend the boundaries of life. Disobeying God, on the other hand has far reaching consequences that may be damning even in the afterlife. Choose wisely what you obey or disobey.
Have a blessed day #CarllyDevotionals
