HARD CORES

Fri. Apr 29, 2022

Acts 5:41-42 KJV
[41] And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

[42] And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

Back in school we had some guys we called “Hard Cores.” They were the ones whose names you’d often hear on the lips of seniors on duty, housemasters or at the Disciplinary Committee.

The Hard Cores took pride in a lot of what they did, though they were often wanted for the wrong reasons. A little bashing, punishment or chastisement here and there never really bothered or tickled them. They were resolute in their resolve to remain Hard Cores.

The early apostles had these traits too. Just after being lashed, manhandled and warned, they’d count it all joy and return to the same thing they got tortured for. They were real Hard Cores.

It’s sad when a little scolding by your priest; an unfriendly word by an usher; a rebuke by an elder, etc. completely turns you away from fellowship and makes you vow never to step foot there. Where are you Hard Core traits? Be mature as a believer, don’t settle for cheap turn-offs.

Have a blessed day. #CarllyDevotionals
