2 Samuel 20:6 KJV
And David said to Abishai, Now shall Sheba the son of Bichri do us more harm than did Absalom: take thou thy lord’s servants, and pursue after him, lest he get him fenced cities, and escape us.
David was still recovering from the loss of Absalom but he would not lose focus. He had also learned a lot from the experience, though he knew he was very much a part of the blame.
Another man by name Sheba takes to the path of Absalom and begins a small revolution. David quickly reacts and gets him annihilated before it got worse. The Absalom experience would not be repeated.
Some people say neither the 1st fool, nor the 2nd fool is a fool, but the 3rd fool is.
Christians must definitely learn from experience. In my opinion, we shouldn’t fall for the same thing twice. Of course there could be exceptions, but we need to think straight and avoid ‘2nd and 3rd bites.’
We most easily fall when under pressure or in distress, but as Christians we need to put ourselves together in those times and think right. It is my prayer that God will grant us the wisdom to identify such situations even when disguised.
Have a blessed Friday.
