Acts 11:26 KJV
And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
I learnt in Physics, many years ago, that when you apply pressure to a spring, it bounces back with a greater force than what you originally applied.
You see this happen a lot in life.
When you hear the stories of some of the “big” men we know, you realize for most of them, life pushed them hard… so hard it forced a bounce-back response, just like a spring, which shot them into glory.
Same could be said of the Believers who became the first Christians. The persecutions of their time were probably nowhere near what we see today. Yet, they held on gracefully till the end. They earned the name, they earned the title Christians.
St. Paul said that our light afflictions cannot be compared to the glory that shall be revealed in us (Rom 8:18 and 2 Cor 4:17). The faith is one of endurance, not only of peace and joy. Let us hold on to what we profess to the very end.
Have a blessed day. #CarllyDevotionals
