1 Corinthians 3:4-6 KJV
For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?
[5] Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?
[6] I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
Growing up in the faith, I’ve come across several others who give more than necessary attention to their leaders in their various fellowships. I speak of those who see you to be lost, if you were not with them.
One family I stayed with for a while would constantly rebuke me for joining another fellowship other than their own. They’d often say that I was walking in darkness and was blind as a bat. Interestingly, I never really took any of those words to heart.
Paul the Apostle saw the danger in the kind of hero worship that was springing up among new converts in Corinth. He wrote to clarify that they (new converts) belonged to God and not to heroes/leaders/pastors, which included himself. It is God who gives the increase, not the one who plants nor the one who waters!

It is carnal to give your pastor or church the credit or worship due God. Of course, honour your pastor/church but don’t replace God in your life with them or any other. Everybody’s work will be tested by fire eventually.
Have a blessed Friday.
