RELIGIOUS CRIMES – Tue, Jun 09, 2020

Acts 23:12-13 KJV

And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.

[13] And they were more than forty which had made this conspiracy.

It is very interesting to see how far people can go in the name of religion. When I watch very old movies of the Crusaders, I cannot help but wonder what kind of blood flowed through some men.

Religious fanatics and zealots cuts across all manner of religions. While some fought for land, others fought for political power and an expansion of their territories. Yet some would just want to go all out to eliminate others simply because they didn’t belong to their side of the divide.

Paul was faced with an uncertain situation, death, when he got picked up in Jerusalem. In fact, if not for some Intel he got, he would have been minced meat the next day. People had just vowed neither to eat nor drink till they had him dead. “What a silly vow to make,” I thought to myself.

In this dispensation of grace, any Belief/Faith that entreats you to die or kill another for their sakes can not be taken serious. The price for humankind has already been paid, by that one perfect sacrifice.
Be spiritual not a fanatic; be zealous about your own spiritual development, but not about land, space, buildings or your religion.

Have a blessed day.
