Ezekiel 45:1 KJV
Moreover, when ye shall divide by lot the land for inheritance, ye shall offer an oblation unto the Lord, an holy portion of the land: the length shall be the length of five and twenty thousand reeds, and the breadth shall be ten thousand. This shall be holy in all the borders thereof round about.
I had a colleague in Junior High School who advised me that whenever I was in doubt about which answer to choose in an objective exam, I should always go for my first choice, the option that occurred to me first before the doubts settled in.
His dad had taught him this and it had worked for him more often than not, according to him. Though he didn’t have any empirical proofs to show, since he was a good student, I bought into his philosophy.
In his visions of the post-exile era, Ezekiel gave very clear instructions about how the land was to be divided. A first portion was ALWAYS supposed to be dedicated to the Lord. This principle was one that put the Lord first in everything one did, a practise meant to instill and cement the place of YAHWEH in ones life.
No wonder Jesus would admonish us to seek His Kingdom first in all our dealings (Matt 6:33), a great recipe even for material prosperity.
Placing God first in all your endeavours sends a clear message to the Heavens. Give the first and best of your money, your time, and your love to God, you won’t regret it in this life or the next.
Have a blessed day.
