Isaiah 40:18 KJV
To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?
The question in today’s scripture verse is one that man has been attempting to answer for many many years. Even in Jesus’ time, He would pose a similar question to His disciples, “who do men say that I am?”
Our perspective of who God is matters a lot. In fact, it defines the kind of worship we offer and the type of relationship we keep with Him.
Isaiah mentioned different groups of people who would make a graven image of gold or wood, depending on their social statuses, just to reach Him (v19-20).
In like manner, most of us have very erroneous perspectives of the Father. We twist His concepts of love, holiness, etc, to forms He may not approve of, in an attempt to understand Him better. But Isaiah stated that “there is no searching to His understanding.”
No matter how hard we try, we may never fully comprehend Him or understand everything about Him. But alas, we know He gives strength to those who wait on Him (v29-31), strength to practically do anything physical or spiritual. Strength to know Him deeper today than yesterday.
May He shape out our perspectives of Him in the way that it right and true, so we can tap into His strength and soar with wings like eagles.
Have a blessed day.
