TRUST ISSUES – Wed, Jul 10, 2019

Isaiah 31:1,3 KJV

Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!

[3] Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the Lord shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.

Why is the Lord not so cool about our reliance on others for help?
I can put across a number of scriptures that are parallel to this:

“Cursed is the man whose trust is in man…” – Jer 17:5
“Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there’s no help” – Ps 143:6
“The fear of man brings a snare, but he who puts his trust in the Lord is safe” – Pro 29:25
I could go on and on, and time without number we’ve heard exhortations on same.

But truly can one live without ever trusting another man? How would businesses and relationships survive without trust or faith in each other?

How possible are these words of the prophets and how relevant are they in our time? Think about this and share a comment or two when you can. We would be grateful to read.

Have a blessed day.
