THE ONLY ONE – Fri, Jun 07, 2019

Song of Solomon 6:8-9 KJV

There are threescore queens, and fourscore concubines, and virgins without number.

[9] My dove, my undefiled is but one; she is the only one of her mother, she is the choice one of her that bare her. The daughters saw her, and blessed her; yea, the queens and the concubines, and they praised her.

Just pay attention to the words of any man wooing his beloved, you are sure to come across a statement like this: “You are the only one.”

Even for those who obviously have many women, this line still does the trick for them, and it’s difficult to understand how or why the ladies are unable to read inbetween the lines and know they aren’t the only ones.

King Solomon employs this fascinating imagery in this verse (v8 and 9), as his character genuinely identifies one maiden out of the multitude of queens and concubines and chooses to love her beyond measure. Interestingly enough, God does same with us.

Though He loves us all, He treats each love as if it was the only one, as it were, one carefully selected from a myriad of options. For me, this knowledge is refreshing and gladdens my heart. This love is real and beautiful, open yourselves to it and embrace it.

Have a blessed day. #TGIF
