Psalm 82:1,6 KJV
God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.
I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
One of the descriptions of all-star basketball players that I like much is “god-mode” or “beast-mode.” Usually when such terms are used, you know the baller did something very extraordinary.
Dunking on worthy opponents, taking shots from very deep, making significant steals and dribbles… overall having a very good game. Not all players get to go god-mode at least once in their entire career, yet others are able to repeat this time and time again, irrespective of their physique or body stature.
Asaph, in this Psalm makes a very good point about being gods. We are all gods… little gods… simply because we are made in His image and likeness. Meaning we actually have the tendency to go god-mode in all our endeavours daily. Think about this carefully.
You shouldn’t be fooled to think you have no need for God because you are god. This is folly!! Asaph, warns against it in verse 7. On the contrary, ‘gods’ need the Godhead to function effectively. Your god-status gives you easy and quick access to the Divine Deity. Make this status count.
Have a blessed day.
