Psalm 61:2 KJV
From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
A higher rock or a strong tower, usually served the same purpose of protection and preservation.
For people like David who were domiciled in the wilderness for obvious reasons, they couldn’t do without a higher rock. In fact, a higher rock was a key pre-requisite in the choice for a hiding place in the wilderness. Watchmen observed and warned of attacking bandits from such spots, making it by far one of the most important locations of every camp.
Figuratively, YAWEH assumed this role in the life of David, so far as he was concerned. In verses 1 to 4 David found ways to communicate this truth he had come to accept, and that is why God became his first point of call in every situation.
Who is your high tower?
Who has assumed this role in your life?
Who would you turn to first when life hits you hard?
Make YAHWEH your high tower.
Have a blessed day.
