Job 35:6-7 KJV
If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?
[7] If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?
Recently, I had a little debate with a Christian friend of mine about sin. He was of the view that our sins do not “move” God.
Even though we did not get to the bottom of the matter, I was very clear about his position, or I thought I was, till it occurred to me that he had to define what the word “move” meant, in the context of his point.
Elihu’s comments in today’s text (Job 35:6-7) suggests a similar standpoint, but goes on to reveals more…
Our sins or righteousnesses have no direct effect on God. They do not change or add up to His personality as God. He remains who He is irrespective of what you do. In fact none of us can add up to who God is. But…
He expects you to walk a certain path for your own sake and for the sake of the Body of Christ. Our action may have no effect on Him yes… but He is affected by what we do. This is why St. Paul said, if we live, we live for the Lord… (Rom 14:8).
Hard as it may seem, do your best to live for Him, the end will justify this choice of yours.
Have a blessed day.
