2 Chronicles 5:13-14 KJV
It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the Lord… then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord;
[14] So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God.
I sat in a service sometime ago with a friend and as soon as the worship was over the facilitator commented on the presence of God in that place. My friend was like: “yeah yeah yeah.”
Later, we had a whole discussion on the same subject, on how one could truly ascertain the presence of God in a place, not just a mere emotion that is misinterpreted.
In their time, the Jews had a physical reminder of the presence of God, in the ark of the covenant. At worship, God’s presence physically filled the place, so that the priests are unable to stand to minister. But in our time, things are a bit different.
We do not have the luxury of seeing with the naked eye, but alas, we can perceive in our hearts what our eyes can’t see. Jesus blessed those who do not see and yet believe! (Jn 20:29).
Don’t doubt just because you can’t see, that is too dangerous a stance to take. No need to argue it, rather pray for the grace to perceive.
Have a blessed day.
