1 Chronicles 28:9 KJV
And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.
I met a Junior High School mate of mine some years back. We had a very long conversation because we had not met in years.
I discovered a few things. Though his father is a reverend minister and had taught him the Lord, he was now of age and had come to ‘realise’ God did not exist. Moving to school in the United States had ‘opened his eyes’ a great deal and “he now knows that the concept of God was only a scheme to preach white supremacy or dominance over black.”
I must confess that some of his submissions were very interesting, but I’m not ignorant of the devices of the enemy.
In King David’s words to his son Solomon, he remarked clearly, “know the God of your father…”
Out of so much experience David knew what He meant by that.
It is important to keep railed to the train your father succeeded on. Many times the Jews were asked to remember the God of their fathers. Foreign culture introduces diversity in our worship, but should not take away what our fathers taught us.
Have a blessed day.
