2 Kings 17:5-6 KJV
Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.
[6] In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.
A friend of mine broke up with his fiancee some years ago, just weeks before their traditional wedding. Later, when I got the courage to ask him why, he simply replied, “charley, enough is enough.”
Apparently, he had been putting up with infidelity for a while. But each time, he and his fiancee found a way of patching up things and beginning on a fresh page. However, after one incident, he couldn’t pursue the agenda any further, he felt that was the last straw. In local parlance we say, “her cup got full.”
Israel had tested a patient God for too long. The day finally came, when God also said, “enough is enough.” The Assyrians came and the predictions of the prophets materialized. Only Judah remained!
Even the patience and mercy of God has a limit. His doors are opened to you for as long as you are alive. So you can please yourself and do all manner of things, but when body, soul and spirit separate, when death calls, would that be your last straw? Would He say enough is enough or welcome you with outstretched arms?
Have a blessed day.
