So Jehu slew all that remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, and all his great men, and his kinsfolks, and his priests, until he left him none remaining.

[30] And the Lord said unto Jehu, Because thou hast done well in executing that which is right in mine eyes, and hast done unto the house of Ahab according to all that was in mine heart, thy children of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.

In the early 2000’s when Rick Warren’s Purpose Driven books hit the scene, they became the most talked about pieces of literature in most Christian circles. I had not read the books yet but I could talk about them because I had heard just a lot.

I’d like to quote from my signed copy of a book on purpose, titled “Purpose Unlocked” written by my good friend Apostle Peter: A purpose-driven life is the ONLY source of true fulfilment in life.
This statement is too thought provoking and I believe that was what Jehu in today’s text (2 King 10) thought about.

The man had an assignment from God to exterminate the house of Ahab and Jezebel, and that was all he lived for. He identified his purpose on this earth and he lived for it. So if you thought he was a wicked man, then see what God to say about him in verse 30.

Every one of us needs to know what our God-given purpose is, and live a purpose driven life. This doesn’t come easy I must admit, but the tools are so available. Don’t just pass through life, fulfil that purpose.
