And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually.

[10] Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick: and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither.

I watched a movie entitled *Mr. Deeds* that featured Adam Sandler, as the main character. Not only was his surname Deeds but he actually lived a life of good deeds which one couldn’t help but notice wherever he went.

The Shunammite woman was very wealthy, yet she had a lack. She won’t go talking about it, she’d rather spend her energy doing good deeds to others with no expectation of anything in return. Her acts of kindness raised a monument for her in other realms. It provoked a blessing.

I’m reminded of Paul the Apostle’s comments to the Hebrews when he spoke on love (Heb 13:2): some have entertained angels just by opening their homes to needy strangers. Not all prayer is going on your knees or reciting impressive lyrics. Not all prayer is staying on the mountain and seeking His face.

Good deeds have their place in His worship and they are capable of provoking blessings that would have in otherwise been unattainable. May you receive the blessing of the Shunammite by your good deeds.
