1 Kings 20:36 KJV
Then said he unto him, Because thou hast not obeyed the voice of the Lord , behold, as soon as thou art departed from me, a lion shall slay thee. And as soon as he was departed from him, a lion found him, and slew him.
For a moment, when I read this verse and the one preceding it, I thought it was rather wierd!
How is one man of God able to suffer such a terrible fate, just because he refused to slap or punch another man of God? Thinking about this just on the surface makes no sense in the least, but indeed, there is more to this.
Firstly, the instruction to deliver the punch was not from man but from God.
Secondly, the prophet personally knew the other prophet well enough, though we don’t know the extent of their relationship.
Unlike our dispensation, failure to heed to direct instruction from God had dire consequences, especially when it has to do with the prophets.
This is a blessing in disguise, where God’s mercy, in our opinion, is even greater than any other attribute He wields. May this mercy continue to locate us, so that even in our negligence and blatant disregard for statutes, He would still embrace us and keep us in His bossom.
Have a blessed Friday
