1 Kings 17:9 KJV

Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.

When you listen to the stories of some of the great men in this country who didn’t start with a silver spoon in mouth, you wonder whether they actually saw the end and took that step of faith. Back in the days, when I thought of these, I always had some questions for God.

Why didn’t He tell the Israelites they will be fighting wars to inherit the land of milk and honey he promised?
Why must one fight or struggle hard enough to receive something the Lord Himself promised?

Apparently, Elijah the man of God, was not even spared this, being famished for days God sent him to the widow of Zarephath to sustain him, yet she herself was at her wits end. She had nothing to offer.

Taking that step/leap of faith doesn’t mean you may see the glorious end from a distant. No, far from that!!! Travis Greene’s song, “You made a way,” sums it all up. No matter how bleak and impossible the end looks, somehow He always does it! I have known this by experience too, when life emerges from the lifeless and hope from the hopeless. Keep trusting.
