DEPENDANTS OF PROPHETS – Fri, Jun 01, 2018

1 Kings 13:18-19 KJV

He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art ; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the Lord , saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him.

[19] So he went back with him, and did eat bread in his house, and drank water.

In our local parlance we have a saying that translates that when a thief robs another thief God only laughs about it.
But we don’t know what happens when a prophets deceives another prophet!

Meditating on this sent my mind thinking about so many things. Why did the prophet fail to seek confirmation from God when the Old prophet lied to him? It cost him his dear life.

The passage also brings out very powerful learnings. We are responsible for our own actions, even if we feel we are heeding to the promptings of a man of God. God won’t say it wasn’t your fault because you were deceived by His fake servants.

This is why He desires that each and everyone of us would cultivate a personal relationship with Him, so that you take full responsibility for your actions. You shall be judged by what you do and not by what another told you to do. Let’s be reminded of this daily so that our dependency on men of God will be in check.

Have a blessed day.
