MAKE THAT SACRIFICE – Tue, May 22, 2018

1 Kings 3:4 KJV

And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.

A former work colleague of mine spoke to me about something crazy he did some years ago. He said that in the midst of some crisis he went through, he was advised to make a good sacrifice to begin with. After careful thoughts, he sacrificed all of his salary for that month.

When I heard of his story at that time, I was only asking myself how I could ever get to such a level of thinking.
The account of King Solomon and his wisdom is widely known, one of the few accounts in the bible that needs no introduction to anyone irrespective.

But we lose track of verse 4 above which stated what exactly Solomon did to provoke the LORD Himself to visit him. Note that the LORD did not send His angel as He normally does, He came Himself. No other king, no other person had ever sacrificed a thousand burnt offerings.

The LORD had no choice, He was moved by the offer and He came down. If you are not prepared to make a “God-come-down” sacrifice, you may keep knocking on that door for long. Consider Solomon’s approach. His wisdom did not just drop from heaven, he provoked it.

Have a blessed day.
