2 Samuel 15:17-18 KJV
And the king went forth, and all the people after him, and tarried in a place that was far off.
And all his servants passed on beside him; and all the Cherethites, and all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men which came after him from Gath, passed on before the king.
A entrepreneur had an incompetent manager working for him. People didn’t understand why the manager was still at post, so would often ask the entrepreneur why. His response has always been the same to this day:
“That man’s loyalty is so incredible that I think about it first before looking at his weaknesses.”
For the entrepreneur, his manager’s virtue (loyalty) made up for his incompetence in massive ways. Other competent managers before this one had caused him a great deal of loss.
David had a lot of men with him who didn’t deserve to be around a Jewish King. They had merited their place with their loyalty. Over 600 men fled with him when his son, Absalom wanted the throne.
Every good man needs some loyalists. Some faithfuls who would go through thick and thin with you. They may not come with PhDs and Masters Degrees, but possess that invaluable virtue you may need for progress.
Have a blessed day.
