2 Samuel 14:18-19 KJV

Then the king answered and said unto the woman, Hide not from me, I pray thee, the thing that I shall ask thee. And the woman said, Let my lord the king now speak.

[19] And the king said, Is not the hand of Joab with thee in all this? And the woman answered and said, As thy soul liveth, my lord the king, none can turn to the right hand or to the left from ought that my lord the king hath spoken: for thy servant Joab, he bade me, and he put all these words in the mouth of thine handmaid:

For most believers of our time, speaking in tongues has become a chief indicator of one having the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
I do not despise speaking in diverse tongues, I seek to suggest to you that there are several manifestations of the Spirit of God.

The believer must not limit him/herself to just speaking in tongues. You have not “arrived” when you speak in tongues of men. No wonder Paul the Apostle admonished the Corinthians to seek higher gifts (1 Cor 14:1).

One of the manifestations of the Spirit of God on David’s life was that of Discernment. He displayed this not on one occasion but severally. He saw through plots against his life as if they were an open book. That’s why even Joab couldn’t deceive him through an old woman.

A gift like this in our time is too handy. I pray that you desire the gift of DISCERNMENT, so you would incessantly ask the heavenly father, who gives to all men liberally.
