When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer,

[10] Then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass:

I used to benefit from doing assignments for colleague pupils when I was young. I liked the food they brought to school, so I did their assignments in exchange for their food.

I enjoyed that kind of friendship. It was based on the benefits and not on love.
Come to think of it, most of us live with such mindset even at this stage, though we can’t help it sometimes and may not even notice or be aware we are doing same.

Soon as King of Hamath heard David has defeated his enemy, he quickly initiated a move to be David’s ally, because he recognized how beneficial that friendship could be to him.
Jesus presents a similar offering to you today.

When you read and hear of what He has done and can do for others, I think it is prudent to open yourself to His friendship too. So you can also experience the benefits first-hand.
Make Him your friend today, the benefits are immeasurable.
