2 Samuel 7:18 KJV
Then went king David in, and sat before the Lord , and he said, Who am I, O Lord God ? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?
In most epic movies, the classification of people, whether they are born of high or low blood, is very pronounce. Royalty is such a big deal, and in some cases marriages between the two is not tolerated.
The name of your house easily gave one away. So for instance, in the Game of Thrones franchise, when you heard House Stark, House Tyrell or House Lannister, you knew what and who you were dealing with. Your house mattered a lot!
So after Nathan the prophet had spelt out God’s promises to King David from House Jesse, David could only sit before the LORD and make this prayer: Lord, who am I and what is my house, that you have brought me thus far?
Think about this carefully. You may not be born of high blood biologically, but now share in the bloodline of David by virtue of adoption, so that you are also of High Blood now; you who were nobody. That’s why Paul the Apostle would say “God predestined us for adoption into sonship through Jesus Christ… (Eph 1:5)”
Have a blessed day.
