2 Samuel 6:11-12 KJV
And the ark of the Lord continued in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite three months: and the Lord blessed Obed-edom, and all his household.
And it was told king David, saying, The Lord hath blessed the house of Obed-edom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom into the city of David with gladness.
The story of Obed-edom is a very popular one within Christian circles. I’ve heard many prayer topics calling for his kind of blessings a good number of times.
But one thing we usually won’t hear is the story before his story; the reason why the ark of the covenant came to his house.
Obed-edom didn’t request for the Ark, it came to him out of uncertainty. The man who came closest to the Ark had been killed.
The king, David, was not going to be next to die, in case God was still angry. So the Ark of the covenant was pushed into Obed-edom’s house, just to see how thing would pan out. Remember a similar thing had happened with the Ark while with the Philistines.
But fortunately for Obed, things worked out well for him.
As we enter this new month, may any agenda that is set before you, to make you, as it were, a guinea pig, work out for your own good and change your fortunes for the better… in Jesus’ name.
Have a Happy Workers’ Holiday.
