1 Samuel 18:5,14 KJV
And David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul’s servants.
[14] And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the Lord was with him.
What would the feeling be like, if you were in David’s shoes around this time? You had not only slaughtered a giant but been made a captain of a thousand soldiers and made to live with the king. This is fame beckoning!
I have read accounts of people who attained fame at a young age, like star of the Home Alone franchise, Macaulay Culkin, Amy Winehouse and our very own Kiki Djan of Osibisa, who seemed never to have got the fame out of their heads.
David was very young when songs of his exploits started filling the palace he was now living. I can imagine how the women sang it beautifully. But three times in this chapter, we are told he behaved himself VERY WISELY (v5, 14, 30). He knew what the implications were.
Knowledge of your current position, status, or level in whatever institution you are, and behaving wisely about it is very key for your success and survival. Behave wisely… you will be successful.
Have a blessed day.
