Deuteronomy 23:18,21,23 KJV
Thou shalt not bring the hire of a whore, or the price of a dog, into the house of the Lord thy God for any vow: for even both these are abomination unto the Lord thy God.
[21] When thou shalt vow a vow unto the Lord thy God, thou shalt not slack to pay it: for the Lord thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee.
[23] That which is gone out of thy lips thou shalt keep and perform; even a freewill offering, according as thou hast vowed unto the Lord thy God, which thou hast promised with thy mouth.
Clearly, when it comes to the vows and promises we make to God, He is very particular about them. These words are still valid today.
Money that is not made in a clean way, IS NO OFFERING to God. So you may give thousands of cedis to the admiration and applause of many, but score no point before God.
Same applies to the lot of us who make many pledges to God before men, and yet never make up our minds to pay them, see v21 & 23. As I write this, some of us have pledges that are 5yrs old. When do you intend to redeem them?
You can’t rob another to pay God, He won’t delight in such an offering. Neither does He delight in your lack of resolve to settle that old pledge. God reckons that as a sin and won’t write it off like you are thinking. Go settle it!!!
Have a blessed day.
