And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the Lord , which he commanded them not.

[2] And there went out fire from the Lord , and devoured them, and they died before the Lord .

When I used to be an altar boy (mass server) I remember one of the most envied roles was being the Thurifer (one who carries the censer). One of my friends by name Kwesi, won’t even serve if he didn’t get that role.

When I read what happened to Nadab and Abihu for offering unholy/strange fire before the Lord, I got to appreciate the extent of God’s Mercy in our time.

Two qualified priests got charred instantly for disregarding the rules, doing what God hadn’t commanded, and here we were walking freely about, having disregarded the rules many many times.

I understand why there will be no mercy at the judgement seat of God, when our time here on earth is over. The Mercy is so abundant here, we need to take advantage here while it is still available because there are no second chances in the afterlife. Wise up!!!
