Genesis 49:1-2 KJV

And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.

[2] Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father.

Jacob (Israel) was 147 years plus. As he drew nearer to his grave he called his 12 sons together to bless them. We don’t often see these things lately, neither do we value them as much as the ancient man did.

A father’s blessing was as important as life itself. The patriarchs were careful to receive these in full measure and knew very well that what words were pronounced on the death bed were what exactly happened.

This is even the more reason why in our time we don’t need to even wait for the end of our lives to bless our children. If what you say to them has a high probability of being what is, then why wait?

Speak into their lives now! Make it a daily prayer. Bless your children, even if they are unborn. In our difficult world now, we cannot allow anything to chance, peradventure we leave without saying goodbye.
