Genesis 46:33-34 KJV

And it shall come to pass, when Pharaoh shall call you, and shall say, What is your occupation?

[34] That ye shall say, Thy servants’ trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians.

Jacob (Israel) finally met Joseph! He moved his entire household from Canaan (the promised land) to Egypt (where Joseph was ruler) to be with his long lost favourite son.

The Egyptians never mingled with shepherds. It was a taboo for any Egyptian (especially of high rank) to dine with a Hebrew man, because they were shepherds.

But for the sake of Joseph, Pharoah allowed Jacob and his descendants to live in Goshen, in Egypt. This was the second unusual thing Pharoah did, apart from making the abominable decision of making a shepherd boy his prime minister.

May unusual things, such as is not common to man, happen to you because of your trust and faith in God. And may your folks and kinsmen be granted access to places you never dreamed of because of you, in Jesus’ name.
