GREATER LOVE – Wed, Sep 13, 2017

Genesis 44:32-33 KJV

For thy servant became surety for the lad unto my father, saying, If I bring him not unto thee, then I shall bear the blame to my father for ever.

[33] Now therefore, I pray thee, let thy servant abide instead of the lad a bondman to my lord; and let the lad go up with his brethren.

These were the words of Judah, one of Joseph’s elderly brothers, when Joseph opted to make Benjamin his slave, because the poor lad had apparently stolen the king’s silver cup.

Judah must have grown a lot and learnt a million valuable lessons. Not only were his words courageous but also a reflection of Jesus’s own words in John 15:13, “greater love hath no man, than to lay his life for his friends.”

We should be able to imagine how Benjamin felt when he heard those words and juxtapose that against what Joseph felt when he learnt his brothers wanted to harm him some 13yrs ago.

Love is not merely a feeling, at least at this point I have come to learn that it also a sign of maturity, as Judah displayed. Show me how much you can love and I’ll show you a mature person. Let love lead!

Have a blessed day.
