1 Peter 3:15 KJV
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
Being the zealot that he is, Peter would prescribe a way for Christians to react when questions about their hope in Christ is posed to them. Obviously Peter the apostle wouldn’t have us mute on such occasions.
More and more of us are unable to heed to this plea of the apostle. We are able to smell trouble when issues of our faith and hope in Christ are brought up. We avoid them by keeping mute or changing subjects.
And we do these not because we don’t believe in that Hope, but because we aren’t well versed in what we believe in. We haven’t given ourselves over to study, so we know and feel shallow.
Even worse is when the wrong/untrue comments are made about your faith, you only sigh and walk away, missing the opportunity to teach the people in question.
The attitude we must have is that of readiness and eagerness and available to defend that hope of our calling.
Have a blessed Friday.
