1 Peter 2:13-15 KJV
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
[14] Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
[15] For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
These words may not sound too pleasant for most people.
I remember when Jesus was asked to address the question of paying taxes, He made Peter fetch a coin from a fish’s mouth to settle the matter. So I’m not too surprised these words are coming from him.
Respect for political heads, no matter how difficult, is mandatory for Christians. So Peter would say in 1 Pet 2:17 “… fear God, honour the king.” There can be no ambiguity in this.
So you may not so much like your Mayor, MCE, DCE, Regional Minister or President, but hey… give them the respect Christ expects you to give them. This means you may want to think twice just before you hurl abusive words at them š.
Have a blessed day.
