Hebrews 13:12-13 KJV
Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.
[13] Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.
In today’s chapter, Hebrews 13 offers a very important teaching on why Jesus was crucified at Golgatha, away from the residential area.
The writer metaphorically compares Jesus to a lamb that is slaughtered on the altar under the old covenant by the high priest. The beast is killed at the altar alright but its body is sent outside the camp of Israel and burnt (destroyed) there so that its blood may sanctify the people.
So Jesus being condemned in the city had to be sent out of it, to fulfil this cleansing requirement of the law. This way the Law was fulfilled and Jesus assumed the role of a sacrifice lamb. He became a legit sacrifial offering as per the tenets of the Law.
The scripture (bible) is always the go-to book if you need clarification and edification on a good number of subjects. I pray we make more time for it.
Have a blessed day.
