1 Timothy 6:6-7 KJV
But godliness with contentment is great gain.
[7] For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
Words like these, against a backdrop of statements Jesus himself made about riches may easily be misinterpreted that God abhors riches and wealth.
Like Jesus, Paul’s had observed that riches often set a veil before men, so that many a rich men bothered the least about the statuses of their souls. He would tell Timothy riches make men easily fall into temptations and hurtful lusts, which plunge their souls into destruction and perdition (v10).
So does God hate riches? Certainly not! In fact “the blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. (Prov 10: 22).
The rich must pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience and meekness should they want to be released from the hold of its evil.
Money is powerful and good, but loving it more than the creator could prove very disastrous.
Love God… so that money and the riches he gives can serve you the way He wants them to.
Have a blessed day.
