2 Thessalonians 2:15 KJV
Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
I believe I heard the new minister-designate for Culture and Creative Arts speak about how important it was to do away with old traditions like FGM and keep good ones like Dipo, when he faced the vetting committee yesterday.
I had not heard a word like ‘Dipo’ in ages. I started having flashbacks of some of my experiences of this old tradition when I was a little boy. Indeed Accra has evolved and a lot of these things have been replaced and totally done away with.
Paul the apostle sought to safeguard the traditions of the church which he felt were being threatened. He encouraged the people of Thessalonica, and by extension… you and I to stand firm.
Keep holding on to the basics of Christianity (daily prayer and Word study) which you were taught when you first believed.
These rudiments are still valid and forever will keep your sanctity even in the midst of ‘modern traditions.’
Have a blessed day.
