Colossians 3:14 KJV
And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
I want to believe that the most popular words of apostle Paul on the subject of Love may be those found in 1 Corinthians 13:1-10, where he teaches what Love is and what it isn’t.
But today, meditating on Colossian 3:14, I see a new phrase that puts all the other things Love is, in perspective for me; The Bond of Perfection.
No wonder St. Paul implies that if you have all things and have not LOVE you are nothing. LOVE indeed is that single unifier that makes why we do what we do perfect. So that when we “put on compassion, kindness, meekness, etc (v12)” we still would need LOVE to bundle them up.
Why is this so? It is simply because LOVE is the bond of perfection. Pray for others, but LOVE them. Give to people, but by all means love them. All comes to naught without LOVE.
Have a blessed day.
