Philippians 2:20-21 KJV
For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.
[21] For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.
We used to have many different pastors spend some time with us at our office fellowship meetings everyday of the working week.
One of my colleagues, Hansen, pointed out a couple of the pastors who were there only because of what favours they wanted in return. He knew for a fact that they would stop paying us their regular visits soon as they got what they were looking for. Like a prophesy, Hansen’s words turned out to be true.
Paul faced a similar challenge with the Phillipians. He struggled to find like-minded shepherds who would care for the people in love, not because one thing or the other. Thank God he was able to fall on Timothy and Epaphroditus.
I believe everyone should have a shepherd/spiritual director or whatever you may call him/her. But I pray you chance on someone who will naturally care for your state, and not otherwise.
